Earlier this week, I let Emery stay in her pajamas most of the morning since she was sick with a cold and ear infection. Kenton was at school and she was playing with his states puzzle. Later I went to pick it up and put the pieces back in and several of the pieces were missing (see photo above). I didn't think much about it because Emery has been known to put things in drawers and in special places all over the house.
A little while later I took her PJs off and out fell a tissue and a puzzle piece. I asked her how they got in there and she said "I put dem dare". At this point her PJs were off and I was putting her clothes on her, and she said "Dares moe" and pointed to PJs over on the floor beside us.
I picked up her PJs and sure enough all these puzzle pieces were in the feet of the pajamas!

On Saturday the kids wanted to play dress-up. Of course they wanted to dress up as a dinosaur and a princess. They had a great time pretending!

These pictures are from the shark petting area. The sharks were relatively small. Emery touched a couple of them, but Kenton couldn't quite bring himself to reach in and touch one! Then we compared our weights to weights of different sharks.

These pictures were taken in the jellyfish area at the Newport Aquarium. This wall had jellyfish shadows floating on it. They reacted to your shadows and would dart off in the opposite direction when your shadow touched them. Since your hand's shadow got to them before your hand did, the jellyfish shadows would dart off before you could actually touch them. Of course, being shadows, they didn't show up in the pictures, which makes them even funnier!

Here are some more pics from the Frog Bog at the Newport Aquarium.

Yesterday we went to the Newport Aquarium and had a great time. We had never been to this aquarium before. The kids had a great time! As we were leaving, Kenton was already asking when we were going to be coming back. One of their favorite spots was The Frog Bog. Not only were there real frogs in this area, there was also a play area to let little ones run around and burn some energy. We took quite a few pictures, so I will post more from the aquarium in the upcoming days.

The kids and I went to Young's dairy today for lunch and ice cream. They were celebrating their 141st birthday, so they had kid's meals for $1.41 (usually $3.99). That included fries and a drink! WOW! And they had kid's cone for $1.41 (usually $1.89) and we had 1/2 price coupons for the kid's cones that they let us use! We had a great time!

Over the weekend at the grocery store, Emery sampled a Mineola Orange and she really liked it. After eating three of the samples and wanting "mo of dat", we figured we really should buy her some. To say she has really enjoyed them would be an understatement!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANNY CARDIN

Kenton decided the playdoh pieces would make good glasses.

Emery is singing into the playdoh microphone.

With the snow and cold temperatures, we spent a lot of time indoors over the last few days. The kids decided they wanted to play with playdoh. It was the first time (at least in quite some time) that Emery had played with the playdoh. She kept rolling it around in her hands like she really liked the way it felt.

Kenton and Emery love getting up in the bay window and watching it snow. They start by getting two desk chairs and end up in the window!

Emery models one of the new outfits she got for Christmas.

Well we finally got the big snow that Kenton was hoping for! As of 5:00 yesterday we measured 5 1/2 inches in our yard. It is still snowing this morning. I'm guessing we have close to 7 inches now. The kids and I are planning on going back out in it this afternoon. The snow was so deep Emery could barely walk in it, but she still had a great time. One of our neighbors scraped our driveway with a scraper attached to an ATV! Whatever works! The library closed yesterday at 3:30 so we got to spend the afternoon with Keesha. They are open today, but I'm guessing they won't be too busy. The roads are snow covered, but not too bad once we get out of our subdivision. We just have to slip and slide all the way out to the main road!

Yesterday afternoon while Emery napped, Kenton and I made some chocolate-chip walnut oatmeal cookies. They are gluten free and very yummy. Today we are eating them and watching the snow come down. It has been snowing for over 5 hours and it's still coming down. It didn't start snowing until about 8:30 or 9:00 this morning, so Kenton had preschool today. He never has school on Fridays, so he probably won't even get a snow day out of all this snow. We already had about 2 inches on the ground from some snow on Monday. I'd guess that we already have at least 2 more inches on top of that. The library is closing at 3:30 this afternoon, so maybe all of us can go out and play in it later....or we might just wait until tomorrow. And of course, we'll do our best to take some pictures.

Here's a few more pictures from when we went to the Boonshoft Museum last week. The kids always love playing in the dig pit, but it can be a little messy. It is made up of thousands of little pieces of rubber (much better than dirt) that get everywhere. I usually find at least one piece in Emery's diaper.

Yes, he is real and very, very large!

This was our last chance to see the Otters for a while. They are being sent to another location (a zoo, I think) to live while their area is being renovated at the Boonshoft. They were scheduled to leave on January 4th.

The week on New Year's Keesha worked Monday through Wednesday, so the kids and I had to keep ourselves busy. One day we went to the Boonshoft museum. It was relatively quiet in the morning, but by Noon when we were heading out it was pretty crowded.
